It has often been said that a good starting place to living a truly happy life lies in the pursuit of something bigger than yourself. When situations seem insurmountable, when the daily toil of life gets too tough to face, look around and find someone who has it a bit tougher than you do.
Then help them. It will do wonders for your attitude and self-worth. Whether you realize it or not, we live in a “cause and effect” world. Luckily, we have a choice as to what kind of effects we cause. So all things being equal, a good place to start is to grant others the same as you would have them grant you. If you want a friend, be a friend. If you desire an expression of love and affection, give that very thing. This may sound familiar and very nice to you, but the trick is to put it into action every day. As Tony Robbins says, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten.” So think about how good it will feel to get all those things you want. And more importantly, think about wat you’ve just given to those you’ve encountered—the very thing they have been waiting for—a smiling face,What are you putting your attention on right now? What’s on your mind? it’s true that you get what you put your attention to, you’d better start thinking happy thoughts. We have an obligation to be happy in order to get a kind response to something. So doesn’t it make sense that we must put a kind communication out there? |
